We are seeking a research fellow to work on the EPSRC funded project EP/C523229/01 "Multidisciplinary Critical Mass in Computational Algebra and Applications", in the area of Partition Backtrack methods, their connections to constraint programming methods and their applications in computational algebra. The appointment will be for eighteen months from 1 March 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of extension for up to a further six months if the project is extended by the EPSRC. You should have a PhD in a relevant area of mathematics or computer science and excellent programming skills are essential. Experience with constraint programming, partition backtrack techniques and a solid understanding of basic group theory are highly desirable. Experience with the GAP system and/or the Minion constraint solver is desirable.
