Telefónica Research in Sao Paulo has an opening for a researcher, to be part of the new new Data Mining and User Modeling research group based in Madrid (http://research.tid.es/usermodeling). The focus of the group is on human-centered approaches to data analysis for customer modeling, personalization, and decision support. A special emphasis of the group is on principled data analysis taking transdisciplinary approaches that consider sociocultural context and personal preferences.
The selected candidate is expected, and will have the opportunity to develop and lead her own area of research, with significant support from our engineering teams and the research team in Madrid. Individuals must therefore be able to carry out leading independent research while working closely within an interdisciplinary team. In particular, the selected candidate will be expected to form and lead a small team in Sao Paulo, working closely with local universities and students.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field, 3+ years of experience, a strong publication record, and experience in at least one of the areas above. Interdisciplinary background and interests and/or experience in social aspects of computing considered favorably (technology for developing regions, cultureaware computing, etc.) Successful candidates will be highly motivated, creative, dynamic, fluent in English, have excellent communication skills (written and oral), and be able to interact well in international, multidisciplinary, R&D teams.
The selected candidate is expected to publish in the top-ranked conferences and journals in the field, engage in open research collaborating with international academic partners, and actively participate in the research community (program committees and other activities), and in national and international projects.
