Since its establishment in March 2007, Google Beijing Research lab has made marked progress in the area of mining massive data sets. Specifically, the lab has parallelized a number of data-mining algorithms to run on hundreds of thousands of distributed computers. These algorithms include SVD (ICME 06), SVMs (NIPS 07), PLSA and LDA (KDD 08), Association Mining (ACM RS 08), and Spectral Clustering (ECML 08) (see MMDS/CIVR keynote slides for details). Building upon this foundation, Beijing Research is seeking for search scientists to design advanced models and develop novel applications. A successful candidate requires a PhD degree with a distinguished publication record in the area of Machine Learning, Data Mining, or Databases. Besides a strong research track record, a candidate must demonstrate outstanding coding skills.
