Associate Assistant Tenure Track Prof In High Performance Algorithms In Computational Science

is seeking to fill three positions as

Associate/Assistant (Tenure track) Professor in "œHigh Performance Algorithms in Computational Science".

The successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of research and teaching in scientific computing / computational science. Competence in scientific computing / computational science with emphasis on high performance methods or computing for interdisciplinary applications is expected. Expertise in software, modeling, analysis and/or parallel computing as well as concurrency and the effective development of interfaces between application needs, computational software, hardware or simulation methods are important assets. The successful candidates will conduct research at the ICS with an opportunity to work in close working relationship with the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre. The official teaching language at the faculty is English.

Research and teaching expertise in one of the following areas is expected:

1. Stochastic processes and/or high dimensional problems in computational science (e.g. in mathematical finance or for uncertain quantifications)
2. Optimization and control for continuous or discrete systems (e.g. in life sciences or for traffic / energy networks)
3. Multiscale modeling and Simulation of complex systems (e.g. climate modeling or materials science)

Basic requisites:

• PhD or equivalent;
• Substantial research publication record;
• Scientific and teaching expertise in computational science and related disciplines;
• Fluent English. Good knowledge of German, French or Italian is desirable.

Job profile and duties:

• teaching at all levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD);
• research activities in Computational science;
• to promote scientific research at the Università della Svizzera italiana within the expertise field, also in association with the Swiss National Supercomputing Center;
• to participate in Faculty Council meetings and related ad-hoc committees.
