The PReCISE Research Center

Context

The PhD Student will work within the PReCISE research center. PReCISE (9 professors; 30 PhD; 5 post-doc) is a research center of the University of Namur (FUNDP) devoted to the engineering and management of advanced information systems.

The main research areas of the PReCISE Research center are: data engineering, evolution, model-driven engineering, quality and measurement, requirements engineering and business-IT alignment and service engineering.

Tasks

The PhD Student will take part in a research project in the field of software engineering. His PhD research will concern the interoperability of CASE tools and the support of cooperative tasks in distributed environments. The thesis will define a generic bus to exchange (meta-)models between CASE tools and to facilitate cooperative modeling tasks.

  • Prof. Patrick Heymans.

Profile

The ideal candidate holds a master in computer science, engineering or related field. The candidate should have a background/strong interest in the following fields software architectures, ontologies, distributed systems, cooperative tasks, and model driven engineering.

Localization

Namur is a town of 80.000 inhabitants, located at 300 km of Paris (2h20 in train Thalys-TGV), 60 km of Brussels and 30 km of Charleroi. It is the administrative capital of Wallonia. Namur is the confluence of the Meuse and Sambre rivers, and is along the hill of the Citadel. For these reasons, Namur is a town with a very privileged life. The valley is pleasant and is a very nice area.
