The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Emory University invites applications for the Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Informatics for the Fall 2008. The new Ph.D. program, established in the Fall of 2007, is a research-intensive program with the mission of preparing researchers in both the core and interdisciplinary areas of computing and informatics.

The program is designed around departmental research strengths in parallel and distributed systems, computational science, algorithms, and data and information management. Research projects are distinguished by its strong collaborations with computational and discrete mathematics faculty, life and social sciences departments, and with the highly-regarded schools of medicine and public health.

We seek applications from students with backgrounds in mathematical, computing and the life and health sciences. Graduates in the liberal arts and social sciences with strong preparation in mathematics and computation are also encouraged to apply. Assistantships, fellowships, and tuition scholarships are available for highly qualified applicants. For more details, please visit the departmental website and the page for prospective graduate students: http://www.mathcs.emory.edu/programs-grad/

Review of applications will begin in early February.
