The School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University in Surrey (Vancouver area), British Columbia, Canada has an opening for a PhD student research assistant. The successful candidate will be involved in research in the area of model-driven software development of service-oriented architectures [1]. The research will be conducted in the Laboratory for Ontological Research at the Surrey Campus of Simon Fraser University. Full support at the standard PhD student level is available for three years. All graduate students at Simon Fraser University are also eligible to apply for many graduate scholarships provided by Simon Fraser University [2] and for different teaching assistant positions. The expected start date is January 2009.
Qualifications
Successful applicants must possess a Master's degree in computer science or a related field. Applicants should have knowledge and demonstrable prior work experience in at least one of the following areas: software modeling and metamodeling, semantic web, UML, web services, SOA. Proficiency in object-oriented programming (Java), data structures and algorithms and XML technologies is expected. The candidate must possess good communication skills and be enthusiastic to work in a research team. Proven skills in writing research papers will be considered a strong asset. For admission to the PhD program, international applicants must demonstrate English language competence and literacy through the TOEFL test.
