The Advanced Database Research and Modeling (ADReM) group of the University of Antwerp announces a four years funded position for a doctoral student in the areas of databases and knowledge representation. The position is available in the context of the FWO projectDB-QUeriDO: Study of the use of database techniques in storing and querying distributed semantic web data.
The PhD student will work on a formal model for distribution of knowledge in the context of semantic web systems, and will develop algorithms, methods and tools for expressing queries over distributed data.
We look for motivated candidates who are in possession of a master degree in one of the following fields: computer science, computer engineering or applied mathematics. Proficiency in written and spoken English is an additional requirement. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in theory of databases, knowledge representation and/or formal logic.
