Project

The Biotechnology Centre at the University of Oslo is a centre for molecular biology, biotechnology and bioinformatics within the University of Oslo. The centre is devoted to research and post-graduate training and with an overall vision to address cell signalling mechanisms relevant to disease. The Functional Genomics and Molecular Imaging Laboratory is investigating membrane proteins involved in the recycling of neurotransmitters, see e.g. following papers: Chaudhry et al, Handb Exp Pharmacol, 2008; Boulland et al., Cereb Cortex, 2008; Jenstad et al, Cereb Cortex, 2008; Solbu et al., J Am Soc Nephrol, 2005; Chaudhry et al., Cell, 1999. Please visit our webpage for more information: http://www.biotek.uio.no/research_groups/chaudry_group.html.

The candidate will be required to carry out research to identify the molecular mechanisms responsible for the functional diversity among some families of amino acid transporters and reveal their functional regulation as well as their roles in the pathogenesis of diseases of the brain and other organs.

The candidate Strong academic background and with practical experience in biochemical and molecular biological techniques is required. In particular, the candidate should have training in IP, GST pulldown, western blots etc. Candidates with additional education in mass spectrometry, proteomics and experience in characterizing transgenic mice will be preferred. Highly motivated individuals holding a MSc in biochemistry/molecular biology or equivalent who enjoys working in an international and interactive environment are welcome to apply.
