The Froebel Educational Institute, an educational charity established in 1892, is offering two full-time PhD studentships for 2009 2012. Applications are invited from graduates, normally with a first or upper second class honours degree and/or relevant Master’s degree, who would be required to register as full-time students at Roehampton University, London. Registration will require adherence to University regulations, and experienced and qualified supervisors will be appointed by the University.
Research topics should be focused on any aspect of the education of children from birth to seven years, and applicants are therefore invited to devise a clear research question and methodology deriving from the consideration, analysis or interrogation of Early Years issues such as may be found on this web page: http://www.froebel.org.uk/elements.html. Research topics should preferably have direct relevance to the development of Froebelian principles in practice.
Each studentship will include a maintenance grant of £13,290 p.a., paid termly (with a small supplement for students living in the London Metropolitan Police District), and full-time fees as required by Roehampton University.
Further information, together with an application pro forma, may be found on the Froebel Education Institute website at http://www.froebel.org.uk/grants.html
Closing date: 5 May 2009.
