The Periscope group (http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~jignesh/periscope/) at the University of Wisconsin at Madison has an opening for a post-doc position in computational methods for biological data management. The role of this post-doc is to design, develop, and deploy new computational methods for searching and mining biological graph and sequence databases, with an emphasis on scalable methods for very large biological datasets. The post-doc will be expected to publish, and interact with various groups in biology on campus. A strong command over written and spoken English is essential.

- Initial period: 24 months.
- Earliest Start Date: Sept 1, 2008.
- The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a computational field (e.g. CS, Bioinformatics) and a background in databases.
- The candidate must have a proven track record of publication in Computer Science and/or related fields (such as Bioinformatics).
- Some exposure to biology would be a big plus, but a willingness to learn basic biology and take a few courses on campus is also acceptable.
