The Laboratory of Information Systems of the Institute of Computing at UNICAMP, Brazil, is offering one post-doc position in scientific databases.
Initial period - 12 to 24 months, extension possible Expected starting date: March 2009. Funding - Brazilian research grants (approx, 2,200 euros net per month, plus other benefits such as travel support for conferences)
The successful applicant will participate in research being conducted within two major projects in biodiversity and agriculture.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- a Ph.D. in computer science or computer engineering
- a strong background in database systems, with emphasis in eScience and
scientific applications
- a good knowledge of software engineering and Web services
- an excellent command of written English; applicants are expected to be
able to speak reasonable English, Spanish or Portuguese
- publications in related conferences and journals
