Applications are invited for one full time postdoctoral fellowship to undertake research in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. The successful candidate will join the Business Intelligence Group (http://www-db.deis.unibo.it/~srizzi/indexBI.html) founded by Prof. Stefano Rizzi and Prof. Matteo Golfarelli, one of the leading research groups in the field, which has been working on data warehouse design since 1997 at the Polo Scientifico e Didattico di Cesena.
The group is currently working on new frontiers of business intelligence, with particular emphasis on OLAP preferences, what-if analysis, cooperative business intelligence. The research program will mainly be focused on developing an innovative framework for modelling and evaluating preference queries in the context of multidimensional databases.
The postdoctoral position is for 1 year (renewable) indicatively starting from January 2009 (however, starting date can be adjusted). The salary will be about 19,000 euros per year (plus an additional grant to cover travel expenses, subject to negotiation). Skills relevant to the position include database theory, data warehousing, service-oriented architectures, ontologies. The ideal candidates should hold a PhD degree with top performance in a field that is related to the areas mentioned above. They should have a proven track record of system development as well as in conducting original research and in publishing results in top conferences and journals. They should be proactive, self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team. Knowledge of the Italian language is not required, while excellent oral and written English is necessary.
