Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position and visiting positions in the Department of Computer Science at Memorial University, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The positions are subject to budgetary approval.
The research areas are transactional aspects in Web services, e-contracts, e-commerce and workflow systems, and transactional memory and related distributed computing problems.
Newfoundland is the most easterly province of Canada. St. John's is the provincial capital with a population of over 150,000. It enjoys a moderate climate and offers numerous outdoor activities throughout the year. Memorial University has a student population of about 17,000. The Department of Computer Science has about 25 faculty members, and offers undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. programs.
The postdoctoral position is for one year. It carries a stipend of about $45,000 (Canadian). Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline within the past two years, and have a strong background and interest in theory. Visiting positions are for short term, typically 2 to 4 months, for researchers with some experience. Travel and living expenses will be provided. Faculty members on sabbatical leave from other universities are welcome to apply.
