National ICT Australia (NICTA) is Australia’s ICT Research Centre of Excellence. We are seeking applicants to work in conjunction with life sciences researchers to develop algorithms and systems for managing and processing genomic and bioinformatic data, such as sequence data and outputs of microarrays, and apply methods from domains such as pattern matching, machine learning, and data mining.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to work in a team of researchers, be goal oriented, and be able to perform research in collaboration with colleagues as well as work independently. You will need to be able to provide evidence of working as an ICT specialist in an interdisciplinary bio-medical or life-sciences project.
You will have a strong background in computer science and bioinformatics, with skills in areas including fundamental algorithms, computational methods, scientific visualisation, numerical methods, information theory, and machine learning.
